Bookmark this list and check back regularly for events near you! If you're interested in helping host, plan or facilitate an alumni gathering in your town, please fill in our Volunteer Interest Form; we'd love to work with you to help bring engineering Buffs together.

Tuesday, April 22, 2014  Alumni Meetup Series - Exclusively open to Lockheed Martin employees and retirees
Noon-1:30 p.m. Lockheed Martin Waterton Canyon near Denver
Enjoy a complimentary lunch with fellow CU Alumni at Lockheed Martin as Dr. Steve Jolly (Aero'82, PhD'92) discusses his work with the GOES-R program, the next generation weather satellites in geo-synchronous orbit. Kathy Tobey (ChemEngr'84, MS EngrMgmt'94), VP and GM of Special Programs, and Aerospace Engineering Department Chair Penny Axelrad will also speak. Time will be provided before and after the presentation to chat and network with Dr. Jolly, college representatives and fellow CU alumni who work at Lockheed Martin (retirees welcome!)

 

Tuesday, May 13, 2014 Alumni Meetup Series - Open to all CU Engineering alumni
7:30 a.m. - 9 a.m. S.A. Miro, Inc. in Denver

During an earthquake, which buildings will stand? Which will fall? Learn the answers during a complimentary breakfast with fellow CU Engineering Buffs as Assistant Professor Abbie Liel discusses her work in earthquake engineering. Time will be provided before and after the presentation to meet and talk with Assistant Professor Liel, college representatives, and other CU Engineering alumni.

Alumni, incoming CU engineering students and their families met and mingled over a complimentary brunch held at the beautiful Computer History Museum in Mountain View, CA.

Thanks to all the alumni who joined us for our breakfast event at the National Wind Techonology Center in Louisville.  While guests enjoyed breakfast and networking, ECEE Professor Lucy Pao spoke about wind energy and the technology required for harnessing and controlling wind power.  The event ended with a walking tour of the facility and wind turbines.

D.C. area alumni met up in November at an alumnus' law firm for an after-hours event featuring a presentation by CU Computer Science Professor Douglas Sicker on "Spectrum Management: Reallocation in Emerging Radio Technology."


Vance Brand Visit

CU astronaut-alumnus Vance Brand visited with students, faculty, staff and alumni at Andrews Hall. He gave a presentation on his experiences in NASA's manned space program and presented a $10,000 scholarship to CU engineering student Sri Radha. Many came to enjoy this exciting event where they got to meet someone who has been to space! Attendees also got an opportunity to get a sneak peek at the "grand orrerry," a student-built mechanical solar system that hangs from the ceiling in Andrews Hall!

More than 40 alumni and friends of the college joined us on June 3, 2012 in Alameda, CA for "Backyard Brats, Bocce, and Buffs" at the home of distinguished alumna Nan Joesten and her husband Hank Leeper. It was a sunny afternoon of good food, fun, and networking, with a college update from Dean Robert H. Davis and an interesting talk by Nan on "Emotional Intelligence."

Our Houston alumni meetup took place in Uptown February 15, 2012 at Maggiano's Little Italy. It was a wonderful evening to catch up with old and new friends, learn about developments in the college from Dean Rob Davis, and hear firstand from alumni Jim Gallogly and Al Sanders about the value of a CU Engineering education.
