The duties of the Associate Dean for Graduate Programs involve the growth and oversight of the graduate programs in the College Engineering and Applied Science, including student recruiting, diversity and enrichment. 

Sarah Miller, Assistant Dean for Inclusive Excellence

The Assistant Dean for Inclusive Excellence provides vision and leadership for the recruitment, retention, and success of outstanding and diverse students, faculty, and staff. The position leads the Broadening Opportunity through Leadership and Diversity (BOLD) Center, including initiatives to build the pipeline of students with interest and preparation for engineering study and careers, and initiatives to improve student performance and graduation rates.

Student Services and Programs

Areas of responsibility include management of college activities related to undergraduate student progress from admission and orientation to graduation, coordination of academic advising, and chairing the Undergraduate Scholarship Committee. Serves as a resource on college academic policies.

Terry Mayes, Director of Accreditation and Assessment

Areas of responsibility include oversight of the college’s assessment efforts, including the development, administration and analysis of numerous prospective student, current student, alumni and employer surveys.  Also oversees assessment measures and reporting efforts necessary for accreditation by the Computing and Engineering Accreditation Commissions of ABET.

Areas of responsibility include advising students in transition, administering the Active Learning Program and its components, supporting engineering student societies, and providing support for companies interested in reaching our students.

Answers incoming telephone calls to the Dean's Office, sorts campus mail, maintains student files and advising guides, schedules conference rooms and Student Services appointments, coordinates New Student Orientation and the Engineering Recognition Ceremony, and handles building proctor issues.

Communications and Alumni Relations

Areas of responsibility include college marketing and communications planning, publications, Web communications and media relations. Publications include CUEngineering magazine, College Showcase and various brochures and electronic newsletters. Also serves as liaison to the Colorado Engineer, a student-produced magazine, and coordinator of the CU Phillips 66 SHIELD Scholars program.

Research Opportunities & Grants

Bill Doe, Coordinator for Research Opportunities
Identifies additional grant and research funding sources for the faculty and works with faculty on the submission of proposals.

Linda Rose, Coordinator for Research Facilitation

Responsibilities include acting as the liaison between the college and Office of Contracts and Grants, supporting CEAS faculty and staff with research administration functions by monitoring awards processing (negotiating phase of the contract or grant) and handling issues as they arise.  Also assists faculty with non-disclosure agreement requests and other non-sponsored agreements that are negotiated by the Technology Transfer Office or CU's Legal Counsel.

Molly Riddell, Manager of Large Proposals

Provides overall direction and consult including writing, editing, and process management, for large-scale research proposal efforts representing $1 M in annual funding and above. Leads implementation of proposal production, quality control, versioning, and archiving methods, and works with Assistant Dean of Research to maintain central Proposal Resource Library for faculty.
