NACME VANGUARD PROGRAM

The University of Colorado participates in the NACME Vanguard Program.  The Engineering Vanguard Program is run by the National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering (NACME).  It is a scholarship and educational enrichment program to support students who show a desire and the potential to succeed in engineering.  NACME and the partner university will support the student with scholarships and academic programs.  For more information about the NACME Vanguard program, including eligibility requirements and how to apply, please visit their web site.

MEP PARTICIPATION GRANTS AND REQUIREMENTS

Student participants in MEP must follow certain guidelines to be assured of receiving their grant.  Requirements include attendance at Academic Excellence Workshops, completion of the Freshman Leadership Course, and other supplemental MEP activities.  Please click on "More Info" directly below for complete guidelines.

SUMMER BRIDGE PROGRAM

Each summer, MEP conducts its annual Summer Bridge Program.  Termed an "academic boot camp," it is designed to help incoming freshmen gain the necessary background to succeed during their first year in engineering.  The five-week program features mini-courses in calculus, chemistry, physics and computing.  For more information about the Summer Bridge Program, please click here.

CU ADMISSIONS

The University's Admissions Office has a wealth of resources for those considering attending CU.  In addition to a list of all requirements for application, their web site has an online application as well as a downloadable one.  

The deadlines for applying to CU are as follows.

Spring
Freshmen: October 1
Transfers: October 1

Summer and Fall
Freshmen: January 15
Transfers: April 1

Mechanical Engineering Centennial

Date: May 8, 2003
Time: 8 am - 5 pm
Location:  Engineering Center

The Mechanical Engineering Department will celebrate "100 Years of Excellence" with a Centennial Forum focusing on the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in education and research in mechanical engineering; Dr. John Lienhard, professor of technology and culture at the University of Houston will be the keynote speaker.

Engineering Recognition Ceremony

Date: May 8, 2003
Time: 8 pm
Location: Coors Events Center

Recognition ceremony for undergraduate and graduate-level engineering students graduating in May 2003.

University Commencement

Date: May 9, 2003
Time: 8:30 am
Location: Folsom Field

Campus-wide ceremony to confer degrees on May graduates. The procession of graduates will leave Norlin Quad at 8 a.m.; students are asked to line up at 7:45 a.m.

High School Honors Institute

The High School Honors Institute, held every summer for the past 34 years, is designed to give high school juniors and seniors experience as an engineering student and to give them an understanding of career opportunities as a professional engineer. During their stay on campus students get to know engineering faculty and researchers, professional engineers from industry, and current CU engineering students; and to interact with their peers interested in science, math, and engineering.
