Success Institute

The Success Institute encourages greater numbers of students from populations underrepresented in engineering to pursue studies leading to careers in engineering and technology.  It is a collaborative effort between MEP, the Integrated Teaching and Learning Laboratory, and the Women in Engineering Program.  Students participate in multi-day workshops on the CU campus, often returning each summer of high school.

Students work together on team projects that concentrate on how science and technology affect everyday life.  Students and parents are both involved in the Success Institute, with special seminars for parents concerning college opportunities such as scholarships, financial aid and choices for academic success.

MESA Fall Fling

Colorado MESA is a nonprofit organization. The Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement (MESA) program is designed to encourage minority and female students to prepare themselves for a college education and to major in math, engineering or science.

During the 2001-2002 school year, there were 3,030 students involved in MESA programs throughout the state. Ethnic minorities and females made up over 83% of our total membership. Consistently, over the last 10 years, more than 95% of MESA graduates matriculated into the college of their choice.  MESA makes a difference - almost 60% of these students major in a science or math based field.

Every year, MESA sponsors a "Fling" with the MEP.  Students from area high schools are invited to participate in such activities as building balsa wood gliders and small boats.  This year's program was on November 7th and 8th.  Click here or on the logo below for highlights.

Colorado MESA's parent organization is MESA USA.  For more information on nationwide MESA efforts, visit their national web page.
