Offered: Fall 2008
Course description: Introduces the basic quantitative tools and reasoning
approaches for analyzing the economic effects of technical data (including
assumptions) on process (and product) designs, and thus influencing decision making,
especially with respect to environmental and sustainability goals. Topics include
fundamentals of process design; basic economic analysis and cost estimating techniques;
life cycle analysis; and a variety of case studies drawn from biofuels, water use, and others.
