Investing in the Future

The funding plan to make the ITL a reality depends in large part on the generosity of alumni, friends, corporations, and foundations who understand the significance of this pioneering project, and who are willing to invest in it. Costs, including design and construction, equipment, and curriculum development have been sized at $15,468,000. The budget calls for a commitment of $3,618,176 from the state and $1,250,020 from our student's Undergraduate Excellence Fund. The balance of $10,599,804 has to be raised from private sources.

The first major gift to ITL was provided by John Drescher ('32) who has since become its major investor by providing over $1.3 million for the project. Other Million Dollar investors include: The Dan Broida Charitable Trusts, The David and Lucile Packard Foundation, and through a Letter of Intent for Gifts-in-Kind, the Hewlett Packard Company. Significant alumni donors include the S. D. Bechtel, Jr., Foundation, Jim ('60) and Pam Patterson, Clancy ('50) and Linda Herbst, Bruce Holland ('73) and Dianne Ladd, Tim Gill ('76), Chuck Palmer ('76), Jack ('57, '60) and Barbara ('56) Woodhull, Gary ('58) and Terie ('60) Roubos, and Bill ('65) and Sara ('68) Caile in honor of Ted and Caroline Shreve ('42). The U S WEST Foundation was the first major donor to the curriculum development component of the ITL project, and we have just been awarded a major grant from the AT&T Foundation. In all, we have raised $7,677,868. We have $2.9 million left to raise, and we need your help!

All gifts to the ITL will be recognized, and we have special plans for any gift of $50,000 or more. Aside from a Wall of Honor, we expect to provide naming opportunities commensurate with the size of the gift. If you are interested in creating a named recognition, please consider a major gift to the ITL. An investment in the ITL is an investment in the future.
