Melinda Piket-May
First-year
Students Can Succeed at Invention
Melinda
Piket-May, assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering,
helps undergraduate students cross engineering's entry barriers
and get a taste of its boundless opportunities. "There's no
specific script, no specific formula you have to follow to be an
engineer," she says. "Whatever you bring to engineering is perfect,
and it really enhances the field of engineering because you're a
little bit different than the next person."More

Brian Argrow
Challenging
Standards Translate to Student Success
Aerospace
Engineering Sciences Professor Brian Argrow is creating a demanding
yardstick for students to measure up to. Known throughout the college
as a tough teacher, Argrow also is branded one of the most effective
and dynamic professors in many students' educational experience.
"The classroom is not a place for instructors to show how much they
knowthe classroom is the place to learn what students do not
know so those things become known," he says. More
