Plant Module for Autonomous Space Support (P-MASS) The first flight of PMASS was scheduled aboard the maiden flight of METEOR-1 (Multiple Experiment Transport to earth Orbit and Return) launched in October 1995. METEOR promised to provide 20 to 30 days in Low Earth Orbit before the Recovery Module would return the payload and its samples back to Earth via a parachute landing system. Unfortunately, PMASS was lost in a flight anomaly of the METEOR launch vehicle, which was destroyed ~45 seconds into the flight.
