Overview
The Biomedical Engineering Program affilicated with the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Colorado at Boulder and the University of Colorado at Health Sciences Center, provides undergraduate and graduate training to prepare students for a variety of industry, research and academic careers in this rapidly growing field.  Didactic training revolves around core biomedical courses including Anatomy and Physiology, Biomechanics, and Biomaterials, with advanced courses in specialized topics such as Medical Ultrasonics, Advanced Biomechanics, Cardiovascular Biomechanics, Biomedical Device & Instrumentation Design, BioMEMS, and Bio-Nano Technology.  In addition, students have opportunities for hands-on experience in numerous research laboratories and rotations within clinical departments.  The Program has achieved significant success since it was founded a few years ago. Notable achievements include an NIH T32 graduate training grant in Cardiovascular Bioengineering, over $3M in research funding, and placement of an extremely high percentage of students in industry and academic positions.
