General objectives of
the labs & reports
1. Provide visual, concrete, or physical insight to help in understanding the technical content of course.
2. Allow opportunities for students to pursue questions beyond required course material.
3. Develop experimental skills – instrumentation, procedures, lab notebooks, data collection
4. Analyze data - study and presentation of results, understanding and representation of errors, analysis of results
5. Design experience – research, requirements, brainstorming, trade-offs, analysis, report
6. Write reports – abstract and conclusion, figures, tables, organization of material, technical writing
7. Work in teams – dynamics of working in teams, collaboration vs splitting the work, role of individuals in the group
8. Practice ethics – collection of data, analysis, recognition of assistance of others
