Students who have transfer credit from another institution (including CU-Denver and CU-Colorado Springs) may use those courses to meet the IUT criteria, ONLY if they meet all of the following guidelines.

NOTE:  This is for students who have completed transfer coursework previous to matriculating at CU-Boulder.  Any transfer coursework applied to IUT criteria must be done prior to enrolling at CU.

Courses must be taken at four year college/university or junior/community colleges based in the United States.

  • Courses must transfer as exact matches to CU-Boulder courses that apply to IUT requirements.
  • Minimum grade of B or higher must be earned for each and every mathematics/science/engineering course.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA earned for all courses taken at the non-CU-Boulder institution must be 3.000. No exceptions.

Important: Even if you have completed all of these requirements at a previous institution, you still must be enrolled for at least one semester at CU-Boulder and meet all of the other IUT admission criteria.

AP/IB Credit does not count for this exception. You may use your AP/IB credit to move to a higher-level math or science course, but you will still need the two math and two science courses for IUT admission.

The College reserves the right to revise these IUT rules or criteria as it finds necessary.
