EARTH DAY 5K APRIL 23 10AM
Earth Day 5K April 25th 10am
Put on your running shoes to raise money the Center for Resource
Conservation. For the eight-year in a row,CRC with CU's Environmental
Center hosts a Bolder-Boulder qualifying race that generates funds for
the CRC. Starting at Potts Field at CU Research Park, Boulder, (4001
Discovery Drive) it ends at the city of Boulder's EarthFest.

ACCLAIMED MEMOIRIST, EDITOR AND CREATIVE NONFICTION SCHOLAR ROBERT ROOT
TO VISIT CUCU
The Program for Writing & Rhetoric welcomes to CU acclaimed memoirist,
editor and creative nonfiction scholar Robert Root, author most recently
of the book Following Isabella: Travels in Colorado Then and Now. In
1873, Isabella Bird traveled in the West and wrote her best-known book,
A Lady's Life in the Rocky Mountains. Retracing her steps, Root recounts
his own discovery of Colorado in Following Isabella. Thursday, April 15,
7pm, Hellems141. Reception to follow.

ITALIAN FILM FESTIVAL USA SERIES
The French and Italian Department announces the first edition of the
Italian Film Festival USA Series here at CU Boulder. The festival is
organized by the Italian Film Festival (www.italianfilmfests.org), a non
profit organization run entirely on a volunteer basis with sponsorship
from the Italian Cultural Institute of Chicago. Screenings are from
April 19-22 at 6:30pm in CHEM 142. English subtitles. Free and open to

Join co-author and executive director of Jewish Mosaic, Gregg Drinkwater
and Professor David Shneer for a discussion about the recently
published-Torah Queeries: Weekly Commentaries on the Hebrew Bible.--In
the Jewish tradition, reading of the Torah follows a calendar cycle,
with a specific portion assigned each week. These weekly portions, read
aloud in synagogues around the world, have been subject to

Daniel Itzkovitz's talk, "Fixing the Jews," is part of a book he's
working on that looks at 21st century attempts to fix the meanings of
Jewishness, and in the process, to fix what's wrong with the Jews. The
talk returns us to the heady days of the 2008 presidential election to
