    FIRST PERSON CINEMA PRESENTS ELLIOT CAPLAN

    Monday, March 10, 7:30pm in ATLAS 100. Emmy award winning producer
    Elliot Caplan served as filmmaker in residence at the Cunningham Dance
    Foundation from 1983-1998, collaborating with Merce Cunningham and John
    Cage in the production of films and videos. From 1996-2000, Caplan
    served as segment producer for PBS's national series on art in America
    and received an Emmy Award for "Outstanding Cultural Programming." In
    1998, Elliot Caplan founded Picture Start Films.

    NEW CLASSES AT THE STUDENT REC CENTER

    Don't miss out on new classes starting at the Student Recreation Center.
    Choose from Women's Self Defense, Massage Techniques, Adult
    Learn-to-Swim, Europen Fencing, Tennis, and Dance (including Ballroom
    Dancing, Belly Dance, Cuban Salsa, Hip Hop Dance, Latin Dance, and Swing
    Dance). Many classes are beginning the week of March 10. However,
    registration is going on now!

    VOLUNTEER FOR THE CONVERSATION PARTNER PROGRAM

    The International English Center at CU Boulder is looking for native
    English speakers to volunteer with our Conversation Partner Program.
    Meet with an IEC student for an hour a week and talk about different
    topics ranging from school, travel, cultures, etc. Currently we have
    students from over 20 countries. The program is a great opportunity to
    learn about another culture and share your own.

    1/2 PRICE CLASSES AT THE STUDENT REC CENTER

    Beginning on Monday, March 10, all Full-Semester-Length classes in
    Aerobics, Martial Arts, Indoor Cycling, Master's Swim, Pilates Mat, and
    Yoga will go to 1/2 Price for the remainder of the semester (based on
    space availability). Many of your favorite classes may still be
    available. So, don't wait. 1/2 price registration begins Monday, March 10.

    SOBER BOWLING

    Sober Bowling Night is this Friday, from 6-8pm at The Connection at UMC.
    This is a substance free event for students who choose not to drink
    alcohol and/or use substances. The cost is $3.50 for each person which
    includes rental shoes. Just tell the attendant you're there for this
    event. Come and have fun substance free. Information: call Jack at

    THEATRE AND DANCE PRESENTS "BENEATH THE SURFACE"

    By bookwriter/lyricist Caroline Murphy and composer Brett Macias,
    "Beneath the Surface" is directed by Terry Berliner, whose Broadway
    credits include: The Lion King, The Tale of the Allergist's Wife, The
    Sound of Music and The Red Shoes. The journey begins when a young man
    attempts to dig through the center of the earth from Hawaii to Botswana.

    CELEBRATION OF RECOVERY MEETING WEDNESDAY

    The Center for Students in Recovery invites you to attend its weekly
    Twelve Step Open Meeting for students, faculty, and staff as well as the
    Boulder community on Mondays in Willard 231 from 5:30-6:30pm. We provide
    support, recovery information, and celebrate milestones for those in
    recovery as well as family members or friends. Pizza will be served

    A Weaving Together of Talent. The Premiere of CU's NeXus Dance Concert

    L'DOR V'DOR

    Help deliver Shabbat dinners to elderly, home-bound Jewish residents in
    the surrounding Boulder area. Come by Hillel at 4pm on Friday to pick up
    and meal, and end your week by linking the generations.

    STRANGERS IN A STRANGE LAND: CHRISTIANS IN THE WORLD OF POLITICS

    Denver's Archbishop Charles Chaput, author of the forthcoming book
    Render Unto Caesar (Doubleday) speaks about the relationship of
    Christian faith and public affairs, etc. This event, sponsored by The
    St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Center, will be held Monday, March 10 at 7pm
    in Humanities 1B50. Please come to this free event as there will be
    plenty of time for Q&A. A reception at the Catholic Center (1520 Euclid
    Ave.) will immediately follow.
