Here at CU we have access to a vibrant culture of learning and personal growth as well as boundless academic resources. It may not surprise you to know that many countries lack the infrastructure necessary to provide basic services to their citizens, but there is one fundamental issue that can help resolve the others for future generations: the right to higher education.

In Iran, the Baha'i minority have been persecuted and denied the right to go to college based on their beliefs. This egregious violation of human rights is something that impacts of us in the academic community because we have already embraced the opportunity to improve our knowledge. I feel as though we have a responsibility to do as much as we can to afford the best and brightest access to education like we do, but I need your help.

We are in the process of forming a coalition of students, faculty members and student groups that endorse the campaign for education in Iran. We will be showing a free, short (30 min) documentary called Education Under Fire and hosting a panel on February 28th at 7pm in Math 100 with Amnesty International's expert on Iran, Islamic Studies professors, International Law experts, as well as graduates of the Baha'i Institute for Higher Education. Succinct and informative, I encourage you to read and sign the Nobel Laureates' letter to say that as a member of the academic community, the University of Colorado is backing this cause and that the world is watching Iran's actions.

From this campaign, we would like for the University of Colorado to accept BIHE transfer credits and to be added to the list of Universities in support of education in Iran. The BIHE has a 25% admission rate and provides an education comparable to any international institution. Thanks for your time!
