SUBJECT: Alternative Breaks is seeking adventurous students
Attention all students seeking adventure and service abroad in NICARAGUA and HONDURAS!
Are you interested in traveling, meeting new people, and participating in a movement striving to deconstruct social barriers through education and service? If your answer is yes, then read on.
Alternative Breaks is a program of the Volunteer Resource Center that sends out community service trips during Spring and Summer breaks addressing various social issues in communities throughout the United States and the world.
This summer we are partnering with Communidad Connect, for our third year in a row, to send a two week long service trip from May 12- May 26, 2012 to Nicaragua addressing youth and community development. This trip will be led by two student leaders who have under gone extensive leadership training over the course of this year.
We also are partnering with One World Running to send another student-led trip to Honduras for ten days from May 12- May 22, 2012. While there, students will help One World Running bring communities together through health and fitness, with a running race with the local children, too.
During the Spring semester, the group of students selected to travel to Nicaragua and Honduras will meet regularly to gain insight into the community and issue areas in which they will be working. Then during maymester, students will be traveling to Nicaragua and Honduras!Alternative Breaks trips this year promise to be the best yet! More information on trip issues, description, cost, and applications are available on our website at http://www.colorado.edu/vrc/altbreaks/ (click on the Summer Break tab).
