SUBJECT: Patty Limerick to Teach "The American West" Course, Spring 2012
Center of the American West is offering a large lecture class this spring called "The American West" (CAMW2001-001). This course satisfies the core requirement for U.S. Context and explores a variety of aspects of the American West, from its traditions and myths to the large scale issues it faces as a political and cultural region.
This course will be taught by noted historian Patty Limerick, winner of the MacArthur Fellowship and recipient of the Hazel Barnes award for research and teaching. Dr. Limerick applies her unique perspective to everything under the sun, bringing humor and realism to the table in equal measure. She is dedicated to finding ways in which academic studies can have real world consequence.
This course will also feature guest speakers from a wide variety of Western fields. Don't miss this chance to not only learn from a lively teacher, but also to gain a rich, broad perspective on the region you inhabit.
The class will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3:30 - 4:45 in Eaton 1B50. Call 303-735-1399 for more information.
