    SUBJECT: CU CarShare Program

CU students and employees can rent a car by the hour under a campus membership-based "car share" program sponsored by Parking & Transportation Services. The goal is to provide another transportation option for those who bus, bike or walk to campus but need a car occasionally, and for resident students who do not have a car available to them.

In this second year of service, PTS and eGo Car Share, a local non-profit committed to economical and environmentally sound transportation choices, have collaborated to make twice as many cars available on campus.

    HOW IT WORKS
Three eGo CarShare vehicles have been located in the UMC/Farrand Field area; this year three more have been added, one each at Bear Creek, Williams Village and Newton Court. Members may use any of the 23 vehicles in the eGo fleet: eight cars in Denver, six on our campus, nine elsewhere in Boulder including a pick-up truck stationed at McGuckin Hardware. Members reserve a car online or by phone then walk, bike or bus to the car, use it and return it by the end of the scheduled time so that it is available for another member. Eligible drivers will have two years licensed driving experience, and if under age 21, they must have a clean driving record. There is a one-time $25 application fee, which covers the screening of applicants' driving records. An explanation of the different types of carshare accounts available appears here: http://carshare.org/eligibility.

Visit eGo Car Share for answers to questions you may have, and to apply for membership: www.carshare.org.
