SUBJECT: Selective Service Requirment
Upon reviewing our records, we noticed that either you have not filled out a Selective Service certification form, or you have filled it out incorrectly. We use the Selective Service certification form to fulfill the state requirement that all males between the ages of 17 and 9 months through 25 must certify they have registered with the Selective Service office prior to enrolling at any state-supported institution in Colorado (Colorado House Bill 1021, effective July 1, 1987).
If you have not registered and you fit the categories above, you can go to the Selective Services System web site (http://www.sss.gov) and register there. To register online, go to the Selective Services web site and click on the icon that says, "Register online NOW". A registration acknowledgment card will arrive in the mail about 30 to 90 days after you register. Furthermore, you are required to notify Selective Service within ten days of any changes to any of the information you provided on your registration card, like a change of address. You are required to report changes until January 1 of the year you turn 26. You may use the online "change of address" at https://www.sss.gov/RegVer/wfAddressChange.aspx or by completing a change of address form (SSS Form 2) at any post office, U.S. Embassy or Consulate office or by calling 1-847-688-6888.
You must also complete the university form that certifies to us that you have registered with Selective Services. You can do this electronically online at https://cuconnect.colorado.edu The application is on the student portal - CUConnect. Look for "Registrar Forms" in the "Academics & Research" section.
If you do not see the Registrar Forms section listed, you will need to add this channel to your profile. For detailed instructions on how to add this channel go to: http://registrar.colorado.edu/students/pdf/how_to_add_registrar_forms_channel.pdf
Failure to do so by February 19th will prevent you from registering for summer and fall semester classes. Registration time assignments for summer begin March 4 fall begins March 30 2009.
The Office of the Registrar is located in Regent Hall room 105. Our office is open Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
We recommend that you make every attempt to fill out the form by February 19, to ensure your eligibility for future registrations.
