SUBJECT: Invitation to Interim Chancellor DiStefano's Spring Semester Campus Update

Dear member of the CU-Boulder community:

On March 12, I was honored to accept the appointment by University of Colorado President Bruce Benson as interim chancellor of the University of Colorado at Boulder.

I am mindful that this honor comes at a critical time for CU-Boulder, as the campus and the state face fiscal challenges of truly significant proportions, and as we seek to move forward with our Flagship 2030 Strategic Plan. With this backdrop in mind, please accept my cordial invitation to attend a Spring Semester Campus Update this Friday at 8 a.m. at the University Memorial Center's Glenn Miller Ballroom.

This event will allow me to update the community on the campus's and the state's emerging fiscal picture, apprise you of our progress in implementing the next phase of Flagship 2030, discuss the search for permanent campus leadership and detail UCB accreditation and campus master planning processes that are now underway. Of course, I will be happy to answer your questions on areas of concern or interest in an open forum that will follow my brief remarks.

At this important time, your input is critical to shaping CU-Boulder's future under Flagship 2030 - the most significant and far-reaching strategic plan in CU-Boulder's long history. At the same time, your confidence in the direction of our campus community is just as vital to our short-term success as we navigate budget rescissions and a recession that are challenging the state's resources.

I have every confidence that, working together, we will move through these challenging times toward a bright future. Please make every effort to attend the campus update this Friday, or to send a representative from your department or organization. I look forward to seeing and talking with you.

Sincerely,

Phil DiStefano, interim chancellor and provost
University of Colorado at Boulder
