SUBJECT: SCHEDULED OUTAGE OF CU POLICE NON-EMERGENCY PHONE LINES
On Saturday, Sep. 27, 2008 there will be a temporary outage of the
University of Colorado Police Department non-emergency (303) 492-6666 phone
number beginning at 5 a.m. The outage is necessary in order to correct
difficulties in receiving incoming non-emergency phone calls that was traced
to a Qwest trunk line.
In order to complete additional testing and repairs, Qwest will need to take
this trunk line out of service, thus disabling the ability for the public to
call the CU Police non-emergency phone number. The outage will last from 30
minutes to approximately three hours depending on repairs needed to resolve
the problem.
Calls from campus phones to 9-1-1 will not be affected.
During the outage, callers who need to reach the CU Police department from
an on-campus phone should dial 9-1-1. Callers from cell phones or off-campus
phones who cannot reach the CU Police dispatch center should call the
Boulder Police Department dispatch center for assistance at (303) 441-3333.
Boulder dispatchers will take calls and pass them on to the CU Police
department for normal handling.
CU Police field operations will not be affected and full services will be
provided during this phone outage.
