    SUBJECT: Electronic Teaching

The purpose of this symposium is to open up a dialog with interested faculty,
instructors and administrators at CU-Boulder about digital strategies in
academia in general and in hybrid and online instruction in particular.
Although Dr. Carey's intent is to devote a substantial amount of the period
to open discussion regarding developments of mutual interest in online
instruction, for background and context he will start out by presenting a
synoptic overview of the $6 million University of California (System-wide)
Online Instructional Pilot Project in which he is participating as well as
quick overviews, strategic concepts concerning the use of digital technology in
the classroom including delivery models, classroom and seminar capture, and the
creation and use of simple "how to" videos for enrichment and augmentation.
This will be followed by Q&A and discussion.

PRESENTER: James R. Carey, UC Davis Professor of Entomology and Science and
Society Instructor, and UC Berkeley Senior in the Center for Economics and
    Demography of Aging
