    SUBJECT: Graduate Student Position: ASSETT Assistant Director for Assessment & Evaluation

    ASSETT announces an opening for Assistant Director for assessment and
    evaluation. This is a graduate student position that supports the mission of
    ASSETT by improving teaching and learning through research and assessment,
    dissemination of results, and knowledge of best practices. The person in this
    position will direct a team of undergraduate students and manage multiple
    projects simultaneously. The scope of projects vary, though most involve
    conceptualization of research goals, design of research instruments, collection
    and analysis of data, and reporting of results.

    Responsibilities fall into two main areas:

    Research

    -- Oversight of ASSETT website content that promotes best practices across
    campus
         - Conduct campus and college-wide surveys on various issues
    -- Coordinate with ASSETT partners on research initiatives
         - Support department specific research initiatives
         - Support for other areas of the ASSETT program

    Assessment

    -- Conduct periodic assessments of technology needs in the College of A & S
    -- Design and delivery of custom assessments for individual instructors/depts

    Necessary background and skills:

    -- Excellent communication skills
    -- Quantitative and qualitative research expertise
    -- Ability to conduct independent research
    -- Experience managing large projects
    -- Experience leading teams or working on teams

    This is a 50% appointment with stipend at GPTI rate; no other TA or GPTI
    appointment may be held at the same time. Tuition waiver is included. The
    position is for a minimum of one academic year, with possibility for an
    additional summer appointment.
