SUBJECT: Request a Desire2Learn Environment for Your Course
Now is the time to request an online learning environment for your spring
courses. Faculty currently using CULearn are encouraged to transition to
Desire2Learn (D2L) this semester, as CULearn will be unavailable after the
summer 2012 semester. If you have used D2L in a previous semester, please note
that content from your previous courses is available to you for easy copying
into the new D2L course you request for this semester. Instructions are
available online at http://oit.colorado.edu/d2l/tutorial/copy-content.
To request your spring 2012 course, login to MyCUInfo. Under the tab
"Teaching Tools" and in the "Faculty Tool Kit" is a Course Tools tab,
with a link to "Request an Online Learning Environment". The form provides
options for transferring content from CULearn to D2L if desired. Regular course
requests will be fulfilled within two business days, and those requiring
content transferred from CULearn will be fulfilled in seven to ten business days.
We offer extensive resources to support your transition to D2L, providing
information and learning opportunities to help you develop and manage your D2L
- You can find Quick Start guides, tutorials, and step-by-step instructions on
the OIT website at http://oit.colorado.edu/d2l
- Academic Technology Consultants (ATCs) are available to provide pedagogical
guidance as well as technical assistance with D2L. ATCs offer custom D2L
workshops for departments, programs, and schools as well as 1:1 consultations
via phone, e-mail, or in-person. Find your school's ATC at
- A library of online resources, tutorials, and videos can be found in the
"Learning D2L - Resources, Tutorials, Videos" course available under "My
Courses" once you log-in to D2L.
- D2L Help documentation: The link to this resource is located in the bottom
center of your D2L homepage. Search here to find answers to your general
questions about using D2L tools and managing your course.
- "Getting to Know Desire2Learn" workshops will be offered the week of
January 9th. For more information, go to http://bit.ly/gettingtoknowD2L.
CULearn is still available for the Spring 2012 and Summer 2012 semesters and
can be requested using the same form listed above; however D2L will be the only
online learning environment after this summer.
We are ready to help you in this transition. Please don't hesitate to contact
OIT with any problems, concerns, suggestions, or questions. The IT Service
Center is available at firstname.lastname@example.org or 303-735-4357 (5-HELP from a campus
phone). Phone help is available 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. (MT), Monday through Friday.
