SUBJECT: Using Clickers in the Classroom
Clickers are an increasingly popular classroom communication tool, but what
is the research base behind them? What classroom techniques surrounding the
clicker technology help facilitate a productive learning environment? And,
how does one go about writing clicker questions that are useful, and support
a student-centered class? In this interactive workshop aimed for all
disciplines, we will discuss some of the studies and theoretical
underpinnings behind "peer instruction" (the pedagogy of clickers), practice
and brainstorm appropriate (university classroom) uses of clickers, and
address your questions (and/or concerns) about incorporating clickers into
your class.
RECOMMENDED: Attend with another faculty from your department, if possible,
to facilitate brainstorming of questions in your field.
