SUBJECT: First Things First: Constructing a Course Syllabus
In this workshop we will discuss general principles in syllabus preparation,
including the purpose of a syllabus for both faculty and students,
distinctions based on the type of course, the characteristics of a good
(i.e., useful) syllabus, and what reduces the value of a syllabus. Examples
will be drawn from courses in Arts and Humanities and Sociology.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own syllabi for discussion.
