    Only a few days remain to register for the Renewable and Sustainable Energy
    Institute's Third Annual Energy Research Symposium. Registration, which is
    free and open to the public, is available at
    http://rasei.colorado.edu/index.php?id=342 . THE REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS
    WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 14.

    The symposium, scheduled for Wednesday, October 21 at the University
    Memorial Center (UMC), begins at 8:00 am with a presentation by Chancellor
    Philip DiStefano, National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) Deputy
    Laboratory Director Robert McGrath, and others about the formation of RASEI.
    The keynote address by Professor Steve Rayner will begin at 8:30 am and will
    be followed by a panel discussion. Registration is not required to attend
    only the keynote address and panel discussion.

    The main activity for the symposium is a poster session where researchers
    and visitors can learn about energy-related research interests and expertise
    on the CU campuses, at NREL, and at other local federal laboratories. CU
    faculty, research associates and graduate students, as well as federal
    laboratory researchers, are invited to display research projects and ideas
    on all aspectsof renewable energy and energy sustainability at the poster
    session, which runs from 11:00 am to 3:30 pm. Lunch will be provided to all
    registered symposium participants and poster presenters, and will include
    presentations about RASEI and its role as the newest institute at
    CU-Boulder. The poster session is free and open to the public; however,
    REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED TO PRESENT A POSTER, ATTEND THE POSTER SESSIONS OR
    HAVE LUNCH.

    A Seed Grant Competition with awards up to $50,000 will be held following
    the Research Symposium. Funding for this program is provided by the RASEI
    Leadership Council. The RFP is available at
    http://rasei.colorado.edu/2009Symposium/ (click on "RASEI 2009/10 Seed
    Grant Competition RFP" at top of page). The application form for the seed
    grant competition will be made available immediately after the symposium on
    the RASEI website. YOU MUST HAVE PARTICIPATED IN A POSTER PRESENTATION AT
    THE RESEARCH SYMPOSIUM TO BE ELIGIBLE TO SUBMIT A PROPOSAL TO THE SEED GRANT
    PROGRAM.
