Dr. Starnes Walker, who was recently appointed Director of Research at the
Department of Homeland Security, will discuss research opportunities in
broad areas of science and technology, which in particular include basic and
applied university research. Until recently, DHS' focus was on support of
applied industrial and private sector research and development, as well as
focus on a few larger university centers. Dr. Walker will discuss new
trends at DHS with focus on fundamental and applied university research.
