SUBJECT: REMINDER - Seed Grants/3rd Butcher Symposium

    October 29, 2007

    Dear CU researchers:

The Butcher Symposium is fast approaching.

    The 2007 Butcher Symposium
    Friday, November 16, 2007
    Westin Westminster Hotel
    10600 Westminster Boulevard, Westminster, Colorado.

We encourage you to take advantage of the opportunity to promote your research,
discover collaborations and to be awarded funding through seed grants
established by Jane Butcher and Chancellor Peterson.

A reminder that the deadline for registration to the 2007 Butcher Symposium is
at midnight Tuesday, October 30, 2007. We encourage CU researchers to register
and submit their abstracts on the Butcher Symposium webpage:
    https://www.cu.edu/butcher/registration.html

The goal of the Symposium is to bring together faculty in the many areas of
research related to genomics and biotechnology. Please note that the intent is
to provide a venue for investigators to meet at the symposium, and from this
organize collaborative efforts. Seed grant applications can then be developed
from these interactions. Thus, abstracts SHOULD describe research from
individual labs, and registrants do not need to organize collaborative projects
    beforehand.

This may not have been made clear in prior correspondence. Therefore, we are
extending the deadline for registration and abstract submission to midnight on
    Tuesday, October 30, 2007.

YOU MAY ALSO ATTEND THE SYMPOSIUM WITHOUT SUBMITTING AN ABSTRACT AND PRESENTING
A POSTER, BUT YOU WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE TO APPLY FOR A GRANT WITHOUT PRESENTING
    A POSTER.

    Sincerely,
    Hank Brown
    President

    Leslie Leinwand
    Director, Colorado Initiative in
    Molecular Biotechnology
