CU-Boulder will test the Campus Alerts emergency messaging system on
Thursday, Apr. 14. At 12 pm, emergency management staff will send an alert
by text-message and email to all individuals signed up through CU-Boulder's
Campus Alerts, and post test alert messages on http://www.colorado.edu
and the Emergency Information Line at 303-492-4636 (INFO). If you have not

MEDITERRANEAN ENCOUNTERS IN THE CITY
This conference explores how the contemporary Mediterranean city manages
and negotiates its identity as a result of recent reconfigurations in its cultural,
religious and social landscape. Scholars will examine how historically complex
macro and micro tensions, contradictions and similarities have been engaged
and integrated in building urban identities in the Mediterranean basin.

THE QUEST FOR COLONIAL WONDER DRUGS: ALCHEMY, BOTANY AND POLITICS
IN SIXTEENTH CENTURY
Tuesday, April 19 , 7 pm, join us in the Henderson building for a presentation
by Dr. John Slater. During the sixteenth century, Spain possessed unique access
to the enormous botanical wealth of its colonies and near total control of the
mechanisms of distribution to markets across Europe. This talk will explain how
Spain changed the rhythms of everyday life in Europe, without leading a
revolution in the scientific study of plants. Open to the public.

SUPERVISOR'S ROUNDTABLE- MANAGING EMPLOYEE MEDICAL LEAVE AND
RETURN-TO-WORK ISSUE
This month's roundtable will focus on how to effectively manage employee
medical leave issues, as well as how to respond when an employee returns to

Technology for Learning " Developing Educational Technologies that Survive
in the Classroom" at 4 pm on Wednesday, April 13, Room 100 (enter from
lobby). The ATLAS Speaker Series presents Margaret Dickey-Kurdziolek, a
computer science Ph.D. student with Virginia Tech. She will speak about the
interactions students and teachers have with technology and each other, and
