SUBJECT: Mid-Career Faculty Roundtable 2010-11
The Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FSAP) and the Office of Faculty
Affairs would like to invite all associate level faculty to participate in
this new program. This program will focus on issues central to the career
and network development of mid-career faculty and draw upon the experiences
of its participants. This time of a faculty member's career is pivotal in
shaping their trajectory of research, teaching, and leadership activities as
well as developing work-life balance. The program will provide the
opportunity for conversation about the experiences, challenges, and barriers
facing mid-career faculty in today's university setting and the resources
available to address these issues.
Examples of topics that will be discussed:
-- Information and access to existing campus resources that may assist
mid-career faculty in addressing their goals and needs.
-- Work-life balance assistance and resources.
-- Dialogues on mid-career issues.
-- How to make important and meaningful connections among peers outside of
your immediate disciplines.
-- Opportunities to invite speakers to present on campus resources.
-- Social networking and activities.
Participants will meet during the 2010-11 academic year. Topics and
activities for each meeting will be determined by the participants and
facilitated by Olga Vera-NeSmith, PhD, Director of the Faculty and Staff
Assistance Program and John Frazee, PhD, Director of Faculty Relations. The
first meeting will be held October 20, 2010 from 12:00 -1:30 p.m. and lunch
