SUBJECT: Keep Your Computer Protected with New Antivirus Software
The campus is moving to new antivirus solutions, meaning customers of
Computer Associates (CA) eTrust Antivirus (also known as CUantivirus) will
need to move to one of the new solutions by June 16. As of June 17 eTrust
Antivirus will no longer receive updates, making computers not updated
susceptible to online attacks. ITS recommends you install one of the
following products prior to June 17:
-- Computers provided for work (university-owned) should download Microsoft
Forefront (for Windows) and ClamXav (for Mac).
-- Personally-owned computers should download Microsoft Security Essential
(for Windows) and iAntivirus (for Mac).
Antivirus software is one of the most important tools for safeguarding your
computer, vital information, and personal data from viruses and worms. All
recommended software is free of charge. It is important that the campus'
current antivirus solution, eTrust Antivirus, be replaced by June 16, 2010.
Detailed instructions for uninstalling eTrust Antivirus, installing the new
antivirus solutions, and frequently asked questions are available online at
On June 17 CUantivirus will be discontinued. This means the software will
not provide protection against new worms and viruses after June 16.
Computers not updated are susceptible to viruses, worms, and online attacks
as soon as June 17.
