SUBJECT: Performance Evaluations and Ratings for Officers and Exempt Professionals (OEPs)

Performance management serves as an important mechanism for providing
feedback to our officer and exempt professional workforce regarding their
performance expectations and achievements. Consistent with Regent laws and
policies, the performance of OEPs must be evaluated and rated annually. As
a result, performance rating form and an evaluation form for all OEPs must
be completed and submitted to the Department of Human Resources' Office of
Labor Relations (OLR), 565 UCB, by Tuesday, June 15, 2010. Please note that
this requirement applies to both grant-funded and non-grant- funded OEP
positions. Departments should check with their Vice Chancellors to
determine their division's deadline for completing evaluations and ratings
forms since this date may be earlier than the OLR's June 15th deadline.

Pursuant to the Administrative Policy Statement (APS) regarding performance
ratings for OEPs, which went into effect on April 1, 2009
    (https://www.cu.edu/policies/policies/HR_PerfRatings_OEP.html), all OEPs
must be rated on a 5 tiered rating scale this year. A sample rating form
using the 5 tiers can be found at:
    http://www.colorado.edu/humres/downloads/OEPRating.doc.

Departments are free to create evaluation forms that suit their individual
department's or unit's needs. The OLR recommends that OEPs be evaluated
according to the performance plan that was required to be put in place for
all OEPs at the beginning of this last performance cycle. For those seeking
guidance in creating a performance planning and evaluation form for their
department or unit, a template form can be found at:
    http://www.colorado.edu/humres/downloads/OEPPlanAndEval.doc.

Thank you for your cooperation and for helping our employees be as
productive and successful as possible. If you have any questions, please
contact Jennifer Norton, Senior Employee Relations Specialist in the OLR, at
    303-735-5416.
