    Colleagues and associates,

    I am pleased to send you the first of quarterly updates from the University
    of Colorado Foundation on its fundraising efforts. The new Creating Futures
    Communique, http://tinyurl.com/dnkj6b , for faculty and staff on all CU
    campuses, is a newsletter that connects you with how private support
    strengthens CU, and how you, as a faculty or staff member, play a key role
    in these efforts.

    We all know the importance of philanthropy and fundraising
    to the operation of our campus and to higher education, where lives are
    transformed for the good of our society.

    In this issue you can learn of gifts that have made a recent impact on CU,
    how the CU Endowment is managing in choppy economic waters, and about ways
    to generate support for our campus programs and initiatives.
     
    I applaud the CU Foundation for broadly communicating with the campuses
    about fundraising efforts, and I am pleased to share this, the first of its
    quarterly updates.
