SUBJECT: New Center for Community Building: Information & Navigation

This February, the University of Colorado at Boulder will begin construction
on the new Center for Community building just south of Hallett Hall. The
building is expected open by fall of 2010.

The upper floors of the Center for Community building will function as a
student center that will attract guests because of dynamic and flexible
gathering spaces and the centralized location of student programs and
services such as Career Services, Counseling, Housing and International
Education. The main level dining center will increase efficiencies in
operating costs by consolidating two older dining halls into one, creating a
central campus production commissary and bakery center, and offering new
dining experiences for all. Disability Services will also be located on the
ground floor and a new underground parking garage will be built.

Although this is a large and ambitious construction project, please keep in
mind that our primary concerns are to ensure safety, to minimize impacts on
campus, and to provide timely announcements of construction activity. As the
office of planning design and construction carefully considers and prepares
for the possible challenges which could occur, please keep an eye out for
further communication about this project and other upcoming projects.

In the meantime, Parking & Transportation Services will work to minimize
inconvenience for parking permit holders and for others who need to navigate
around campus by bus, bicycle/skateboard or on foot. Updated information
will appear on the parking website and special messages will be sent to the
    campus electronically.

Thank you in advance for your understanding and patience. If you have
general questions about the construction on campus, or questions about this
specific project, please contact us at projects@colorado.edu. Please visit
the Parking & Transportation website, http://www.colorado.edu/pts for
information about navigating campus during construction.
