SUBJECT: ADA Compliance and New Initiatives of the ADA Coordinator
In July 2007, the Department of Human Resources' Office of Labor Relations
assumed responsibility for Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance
for the Boulder campus. Since that time, there have been several
programmatic initiatives undertaken to create a visible and fully
operational ADA compliance program for the Boulder campus. These new
initiatives include development of Guidelines for Disability Access and
Accommodation, an application process for employees who wish to apply for
accommodations, and centralized funding to help departments cover the costs
of accommodations for their employees.
The campus ADA Coordinator is Michael Roseberry, a graduate of the
University of Colorado, School of Law and an investigator in the Office of
Discrimination and Harassment. The ADA Coordinator provides
disability-related information, services and resources for faculty and
staff. The ADA Coordinator is responsible for providing reasonable
accommodations for faculty and staff, educating the campus community about
ADA compliance, and promoting equal access and opportunity for those with
disabilities. Additionally, the ADA Coordinator, in conjunction with the
Chancellor's Committee on Program Accessibility, addresses the structural
accessibility needs of students, faculty and staff.
The ADA Coordinator is located on the third floor of the Administrative and
Research Center on the East Campus. Additional information about the
services provided by the ADA Coordinator, including copies of the Guidelines
and forms, can be found at http://www.colorado.edu/humres/ADA/, or by
telephone at (303) 492-0956.
