SUBJECT: Performance Evaluations and Ratings for Officers and Exempt
             Professionals

Performance management is extremely important in managing a successful
workforce, which is why performance evaluations are required for officers
and exempt professionals. Additionally, merit-based salary increases are
based on an employee's performance evaluation and rating. As a result, all
officers and exempt professionals must have a performance evaluation and
rating form completed and submitted to the Department of Human Resources,
Office of Labor Relations (OLR), 565 UCB, by June 16, 2008. Offices of the
Vice Chancellors may have established internal deadlines for their
divisions, which may be earlier than the OLR's June 16th deadline. It is
extremely important that performance evaluations be completed and submitted
to the OLR by this deadline. Vice Chancellors may withhold merit-based
    increases from supervisors that do
not complete performance evaluations for their staff.

Please note that starting this year, the OLR will be collecting not only the
Annual Performance Rating Form, but also the evaluation document. The
rating form can be found at:
    http://www.colorado.edu/humres/downloads/OEPRating.doc. Some departments
have created their own evaluation form but for those that have not, a
template evaluation form can be found at:
    http://www.colorado.edu/humres/downloads/OEPPlanAndEval.doc.

Thank you for your cooperation and for your help in helping our employees be
as productive and successful as possible. If you have any questions, please
contact Jennifer Norton, Employee Relations Specialist, OLR, at
    303-735-5416.
