Call for Nominations
2008 Diversity Service Recognition Awards
Nominations are now being accepted for the 2008 Diversity Service
Recognition Awards. These awards, sponsored by the Chancellor's Advisory
Committee on Minority Affairs (CACMA), are given to campus units to
recognize their continuing efforts to create a diverse and supportive
learning, working and living environment, as well as their commitment to
promoting an understanding of multicultural issues. The deadline for
nominations is January 24, 2008.
In an effort to recognize the many groups contributing to diversity at
CU-Boulder, nominations are limited to campus units that have not previously
been selected. (Previous award recipients can be found at
Recipients will be chosen by a selection panel composed of members of CACMA.
Two or three awards will be presented, depending on the number and quality
of the nominations.
Any member of the Boulder campus community may nominate a campus unit for
this award. In this case, a unit is defined as any group (academic,
administrative, alumni, etc.) that is affiliated with the CU-Boulder campus.
The letter of nomination should describe how the unit has functioned as a
whole to promote and put into effect the ideals of a diverse and
multicultural Boulder campus community. Specific examples should be given
demonstrating the active role of the campus unit in different areas of
campus life, the unique contributions of the unit, and the participation of
different members of the unit.
In addition to consideration of the overall contributions of the nominated
campus unit, particular attention will be given to those groups that:
a) Have a record of service to the Boulder campus community;
b) Serve a broad spectrum of members of the Boulder community, including
students, staff, faculty and/or the community at large;
c) Promote education, communication, collaboration, service and support in
The closing date for nominations is January 24, 2008.
