    UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO AT BOULDER
    ENERGY STAR PURCHASING DECISIONS
    ADMINSTRATIVE GUIDANCE

A number of appliances, heating and cooling, electronic, lighting, and
commercial foods service products are now produced with an Energy Star rating.
Energy Star is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and
the U.S. Department of Energy that is intended to help save money and protect
the environment through energy efficient projects and practices.

As part of our commitment to reduce the impact of our carbon emissions, the
University of Colorado at Boulder has decided to issue guidance for the
procurement of products that are Energy Star rated. We need help and
assistance from anyone who makes CU Boulder procurement decisions about energy
consuming products, particularly when making a decision about energy consuming
products for which an Energy Star rating exists. Whenever possible,
University of Colorado at Boulder energy consuming product purchases should be
Energy Star rated. If there is no Energy Star rating for a desired product,
those making procurement decisions are encouraged to purchase products with the
    highest energy efficiency available.

The purchase of Energy Star-rated equipment will improve the University's
energy and financial performance while further distinguishing our institution
as an environmental leader. The University of Colorado Procurement Service
Center has agreed to support this guiding statement.

To view the applicable Energy Star rated products, please refer to the

Thank you in advance for assisting the University in its goal to reduce its
environmental impact while minimizing energy costs.
