    SUBJECT: Spring Break Herbicide Application

    Dear Colleagues,

Weather permitting; the Outdoor Services Division of Facilities Management will
apply a spring application of Gallery 75 DF herbicide to campus turf areas on
Monday, March 26th and Tuesday, March 27th. This is a synthetic liquid
herbicide (active ingredient is Isoxaben) that has pre-emergent weed control
properties. This application will help to break the reproductive cycle of
dandelions and other broadleaf weeds by depleting the seed bank existing in
    campus turf areas.

An outside vendor has been secured to conduct the applications based on their
demonstrated track record of completing targeted applications that reduce
overspray, minimize drift, and protect surface waters and other sensitive
    areas.

As a further effort to ensure the highest standard of environmental protection,
Outdoor Services staff will accompany the contracted applicators to ensure that
only the specified locations receive a treatment, applications are stopped
during high wind gusts or sustained high winds, and that all necessary
precautions are taken to avoid non-target impacts.

Staff will also be placing yellow application notice flags that will indicate
where applications were made. Colorado law requires that these flags remain in
place for 24 hours after an application has been made. In the interest of
keeping the campus community informed, Outdoor Services will leave these flags
in place until the end of Spring Break.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you should have any questions,
    comments, or concerns.

    Thank you,

    Edward von Bleichert
