o I heard employees can take classes for free, what's the deal?
Eligible employees can waive up to 6 credit hours per academic year depending
on their full-time employee status. Supervisors must approve courses that are
job relevant and/or career enhancing. An academic year begins with the summer
term.
o Am I eligible?
--Eligible employees: classified staff, faculty who rank as instructors or
above, professional research assistants, professional exempt, research
associates, and any ROTC faculty.
--Ineligible employees: graduate part-time instructors, teaching assistants,
research assistants, hourly personnel and special faculty such as instructor
adjunct, visiting professors, visiting fellows, professor adjoint or adjunct,
and lecturers.
o How do I sign up?
In order to apply for the tuition benefit program for summer 2007 all employees
will need to submit a tuition waiver form and some employees will have to
submit an admissions application. See the list below to determine if you need
to submit an admissions application form with your tuition waiver, and if so,
which one. The tuition waiver form, required admission application forms, and
detailed information about the faculty and staff tuition benefit are available
on the Bursar's Office website at
http://www.colorado.edu/bursar/facstaff/waiv/tuitwaiver.html. For summer 2007,
the original forms need to be completed, signed by your supervisor, and turned
into the Bursar's Office at 43 UCB by May 2, 2007.
--New students (faculty/staff who have not taken classes at the University of
Colorado)
Degree seeking: admission application from Office of Admissions and tuition
waiver form. (Admissions information is available at
http://www.colorado.edu/prospective/index.html.)
Non-degree seeking: non-degree application and tuition waiver form.
--Continuing Students: (faculty/staff that have taken classes, but did not
attend spring 2007)
Degree seeking: re-admit application and tuition waiver form.
Non-degree seeking: non-degree application and tuition waiver form.
--Current continuing: (faculty/staff who attended spring 2007)
Tuition waiver form only.
*Required forms are due by Wednesday, May 2, 2007 in the Bursar's Office, 43
UCB.*
o How and when do I register for classes?
--Office of the Registrar will activate a PIN and mail an invitation to
register to your home address two weeks before classes start.
--You must register for classes on or after the first day of classes for the
term in which you are registering. Classes begin May 14 for Maymester; June 4
for terms A, C, and D; and July 10 for term B. If registration occurs before
then, full tuition will be charged to your account, and those classes will NOT
be eligible for the tuition benefit.
--Register via the web at https://cuconnect.colorado.edu.
--All classes must be added by Wednesday, August 1, 2007 or full tuition will
be charged to your account.
*The tuition benefit cannot be used for courses taken through Continuing
Education and Professional Studies.*
o Is there an adjustment to student fees for employees who want to register
early or have used all of their tuition benefit hours?
--Yes, information on a fee only waiver for employees who have used all of
their tuition benefit hours or wish to register early is available at

o Can I use this benefit at another CU Campus?
--Yes, for information about using the tuition benefit at the University of
Colorado at Denver, the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, or the
University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, please refer to their specific
websites or go to the following link

--Using the benefit at another campus requires the forms associated with the
campus in which you will be attending classes.
o How much will this cost me?
--Faculty and staff are still responsible for paying the following mandatory
student fees: SIS, student computing, arts, career services, capital
construction, plus any applicable course fees. Information on fees is at
http://www.colorado.edu/bursar/now/mandfeessum07.html.
--Pre-registering for courses or adding a course after August 1, 2007 will
result in full tuition and fees being charged to your account.
--Undergraduate resident students will also pay $86 per credit hour if they do
not sign up for and authorize the COF (*see below)
--There is a $200 fee assessed for dropping or withdrawing from all courses.
*ATTENTION all undergraduate Colorado resident students: the College
Opportunity Fund is a new system for the state to help fund higher education.
All undergraduate, resident students including faculty and staff must apply and
authorize to have the $86 per credit hour applied to your bill on behalf of the
state of Colorado. Apply (once in your lifetime) online at
