The Boulder Police Department is looking for two suspects in a second degree
assault that occurred between 1 and 1:30 a.m. Saturday, March 10, 2007, in the
area of 10th Street and University Avenue.
The 19-year-old victim stated that he was walking with friends in the area of
10th Street and University Avenue when they had a verbal exchange with another
group of men. As the interaction escalated, the victim reported that one of
the men approached him and grabbed his hair before pushing him and then
punching him in the face. When he fell to the ground, he was kicked in the
face by a second male. His friends were able to assist him in fending off any
further attack, and everyone left the area. He later notified police. The
victim refused medical treatment at the time the report was taken.
When an officer followed up with the victim Saturday evening, he told the
officer that he had sought medical treatment. The injuries described to the
officer do amount to second degree assault. The victim told police that he is
bi-racial, and police will be investigating whether or not that played a role
in this crime.
The first suspect is described as a 19- to 22-year-old white male, about 5'10"
tall, and 190 pounds. He had curly brown hair and was wearing a blue polo
shirt. The second suspect is described as 19- to 22-year-old white male, about
5'11" tall with short blond hair. He was last seen wearing a black North Face
One of the suspects told the victim that a third white male who was with the
suspects had a torn ACL. Also, one of the suspects may have sustained a broken
nose during the altercation.
