SUBJECT: Presidential Search
Dear University of Colorado Community,
The Board of Regents on Thursday took some of the first steps in the search for
the next president of the University of Colorado. The board selected Regent
Steve Bosley to chair the Presidential Search Committee. As you may know,
Regent Bosley also chaired our most recent presidential search, which brought
us President Brown.
A call for nominations for members of the search committee will likely be
distributed Friday. While Regent policy guides recommendations for a portion of
the makeup of the committee, the board is interested in ensuring a variety of
views. We will make selections by our April meeting. The board also agreed to
use a search firm to augment the search committee's efforts.
In addition, the board refined the job description. We received input from the
chancellors' offices and others, and are confident that the job description
will allow us to attract quality candidates.
The board is committed to keeping the university community apprised of the
progress of the search. Obviously, much of it is by nature confidential, but we
will keep you informed where appropriate via messages like these and postings
to the Board of Regents web site.
We are confident of a good result in the search for the next leader of this
great university. Thank you for what you do to make the University of Colorado
the wonderful institution it is.
Pat Hayes, Chair
University of Colorado Board of Regents
