Buff Bulletin

Faculty/Staff Buff Bulletin

  • Content: Short announcements or listings of events rather than academic or administrative information
  • Audience: All CU-Boulder faculty and staff
  • Number of Recipients: Approximately 7,000 faculty and staff with university e-mail addresses
  • Deadline: Monday at noon for Wednesday edition. Thursday at noon for Monday edition.
  • Publication: Monday and Wednesday a.m.
  • Cost: $18.53 per listing.
  • Length: 75 words maximum

Student Buff Bulletin

  • Content: Short announcements or listings of events rather than academic or administrative information
  • Audience: All CU-Boulder students, except those who are privacy flag enabled
  • Number of Recipients: Approximately 28,000 students
  • Deadline: Friday at noon for Tuesday edition.  Tuesday at noon for Thursday edition.
  • Publication: Tuesday and Thursday a.m.
  • Cost: $18.53 per listing
  • Length: 75 words maximum

Faculty/Staff E-memo

Administrative E-memo

  • Content: Reserved for dissemination of administrative news, policies and procedures via the Chancellor, Vice Chancellors, or designated representatives. Examples include the Sexual Harassment Policy, Drug and Alcohol Policy, emergency closure procedures, benefits announcements, crime and safety directives, overtime policies, or other legally required information.
  • Audience: Targeted lists of faculty and staff
  • Number of Recipients: Varies. Choices are restricted to pre-defined lists. Contact Internal Communications at 303-492-2442 for more information.
  • Deadline: Submit well in advance of pending deadlines. Overnight delivery requires submission and authorization by 3 p.m.
  • Delivery: If authorized by 3 p.m., the E-memo is delivered as volume permits throughout the evening. Otherwise, the E-memo is sent on the specified date.
  • Cost: $55.00 plus the number of addresses times 0.0040
  • Length: No more than one page is recommended.

Faculty & Research E-memo

  • Content: Reserved for use by faculty, researchers, or administrative entities addressing an academic audience. Topics include academic calls for proposals, grant awards or research, or fellowship and assistantship opportunities.
  • Audience: Faculty, researchers, deans, directors, and department heads
  • Number of Recipients: Varies. Choices are restricted to pre-defined lists. Contact Internal Communications at 303-492-2442 for more information.
  • Deadline: Submit well in advance of pending deadlines. Overnight delivery requires submission and authorization by 3 p.m.

  • Content: General and vital messages concerning students, restricted to academic or educationally related information only.
  • Audience: Various student groups or lists
  • Number of Recipients: Varies according to list selected.
  • Deadline: Submit well in advance of pending deadline (approximately 7days)
  • Delivery: The E-memo is delivered on the scheduled date.
  • Cost: $75.00 plus the number of addresses multiplied by 0.0038
  • Length: No more than one page is recommended.

  • Note: Will need to add "Alert" category when language is developed by ECC

Urgent E-Memo

  • Urgent E-memos are available for systemwide broadcast of critical information, such as campus closures or police alerts. Due to the length of time required to deliver to all recipients, Urgent E-memos are not recommended for use in emergencies where immediate notification is required. Only those authorized by the Chancellor's Office may send Urgent E-memos.
