Deborah Imel Nelson, CU-Boulder Emergency Manager

Comprehensive emergency management consists of all activities necessary to prevent or mitigate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies and disasters. Our approach to emergency management at the University of Colorado at Boulder includes all hazards (natural, technological, and human caused), all impacts (people, programs, infrastructure, and financial resources), and all stakeholders (students, faculty, staff, and visitors). We work closely with the City of Boulder and Boulder County to ensure that our efforts are risk-driven, collaborative, and coordinated. We also collaborate with academic, administrative, and student affairs departments to develop academic, research, and business continuity and recovery plans so that our important work at UCB can continue and/or resume after disastrous events.

Being prepared for any and all emergencies requires the efforts of everyone on campus. It's a job for all of us! You can prepare yourself, your family, and your department by ensuring that you have the training, planning, and supplies you would need to get through the most likely emergencies that we face at the University of Colorado at Boulder.

If you have any questions or would like to schedule training on or assistance in emergency management or business continuity, please contact the campus Emergency Manager by phone (303-492-6025) or email (Deborah.Nelson@Colorado.edu).
