Research Interests

My research encompasses the evolution of plant form, using empirical studies of comparative and systematic micromorphology explored in a phylogenetic and developmental-genetic context. A primary goal is to develop strong concepts of homology for selected key morphological characters.

Current research foci: Systematics of monocots and early-divergent angiosperms; evolution of flowers and inflorescences; cell lineages that determine plant form; structural colour and pollination.
