Grading: At the end of the semester, all of the points accumulated by each student will be totaled and expressed as a percentage of the total points possible (700). Grading will then be on an absolute scale: 90-100% = A, 80-90% = B, 70-79% = C, etc.

Extra Credit: If you attend a seminar or colloquium on any aspect of biology and submit a one page written summary, you will receive up to 5 points per summary for a maximum of 3 seminars (a total of 15 possible extra credit points).

LABORATORY SESSIONS:

Each student must be enfolled in a laboratory section. Laboratories are designed to complement lecture material. The laboratory manual is not illustrate, instead you must rely on your text, youlecture notes, your TA, and the development of your own abilities to locate and understand anatomical structures. BRING LABORATORY MANUAL, TEXT, NOTES, DRAWING PAPER AND PENCILS TO EACH LAB. You may also wan to purchase a ZIP disk formatted for a Macintosh computer.

POLICY ON ALL CLASS AND LABORATORY EXAMS:

All exams and quizzes must be taken at the regularly scheduled times. You may not take lab exams or quizzes at a time other than your regularly scheduled laboratory. The only acceptable excuses for missing an exam are:

1) document medical (physical or psychological) illness

2) documented family problems of extreme and serious nature

3) documented death of relative

Please note that weddings of friends, lower airfares for travel on certain dates, not feeling well but did not see a doctor and other such excuses will not be accepted. The penalty for missing an exam is a score of zero for that exam.
