The collections
number 12,000 spp. Particular strengths: Orchidaceae, Araceae,
ferns, montane and alpine species, Begoniaceae, Cactaceae.
The Munich botanical garden also maintains a garden
at 1850 m altitude, where about 800 species of alpine species
from Europe and the Himalayas are being cultivated.
