Research facilities: Jodrell Laboratory | Kew Herbarium | Millennium Seed Bank

The Jodrell laboratory houses up-to-date laboratory facilities for a wide range of techniques, both modern and traditional, in biochemistry, genetics, molecular sequencing, micromorphology and mycology.

These include electron microscopy and various types of light microscopy using digital imaging.

Also the RBG Kew DNA bank is kept at the Jodrell Laboratory.

The Jodrell Laboratory was founded in 1876, rebuilt in 1964, and greatly extended with a new wing in 1993. A further extension (the Wolfson Wing) is on course for completion in April 2006; this will house new laboratories, a new mycology herbarium, extended desk space for visitors and improved library facilities, in addition to existing extensive electronic resources.
