We study the ecology of bacteria, fungi, and archaea in both natural and engineered systems. We examine those factors that influence the spatial and temporal variability in microbial communities and the role of microbes in the environment. Current work focuses on those microbes inhabiting soil, building surfaces, the human body, and the atmosphere.

Check here for information on our most recent study - The MiASMA Project (Mapping and Integrated Analysis of Microbes in the Atmosphere).

Noah Fierer is an assistant professor in the  Ecology & Evolutionary Biology (EBIO) department and a fellow in the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES) at the University of Colorado.

I am currently looking for a graduate student to join my lab group in Fall 2012. Prospective students can check here for information on applying to join my group.
