Partners in Education:
What if I am accepted to graduate school but do not get hired as a PIE teacher?
Most of our master's programs require you to be working in classroom
settings while you take your graduate course work. This allows you to
make more meaningful connections between what you are studying and learning
and your own practice.
If you are accepted to a graduate program but do not obtain a
PIE teaching position or any other teaching position, you could:
- defer your admission for a semester or a year and hope to obtain
a teaching position by that time, or
- withdraw your graduate application.
If you obtain another teaching position but not a PIE position you may
either:
- begin a master's program as a regular student, or
- withdraw your application.
Please contact the graduate office in writing once you make your decision. Deferring admission requires paperwork and a small fee..
